Amare Gio Ponti
The Stockholm Association of Architects invites you to a screening of the documentary Amare Gio Ponti (2015) by Francesca Molteni, which explores the life and works of the iconic architect and designer Gio Ponti.
The film depicts his versatile career – from small details like door handles to large urban plans – and examines why Ponti, despite his groundbreaking contributions to modern design, risked being forgotten. Through historical material and interviews, the film also highlights his rediscovery as an influential figure in European and international architecture.
After the screening, Professor Giovanni Bellucci will give a lecture on Gio Ponti’s significance, both as a designer and for the Italian Cultural Institute, which he himself designed. Bellucci is a recognized scholar in 20th-century architecture, with a focus on Italy and Sweden, and has published award-winning studies. Giovanni Bellucci is a research fellow at the Università Politecnica delle Marche and the University of Bologna, where he is a professor of the History of Contemporary Architecture.
The event starts at 18:00 in the auditorium at the Italian Cultural Institute.
The event is free of charge, but demands booking in advance on the website of the Italian Cultural Institute. Organised by Stockholms Arkitektförening in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.
