Towards a Reparative Material Practice.
A full day for those who want to learn more about how local natural building materials work in practice. Together with the Nordic region’s foremost experts in clay and wood, you will get to try your hand at erecting a post and beam, laying mud bricks and plastering a wall with clay.
Don’t miss this workshop where you will get a day of theory and practice in the basics of wood, plasterwork and clay. During a full day at Palmgatan’s collective workshop, under the guidance of some of the Nordic region’s foremost experts in clay and wood, you can try your hand at erecting a post and clay plastering a wall.
The workshop is organised as part of the exhibition The great repair moves north and is made in collaboration with Arch+, Växtverket, Lera i norden and Malmö University. The workshop is supported by Culture Europe and Nordic Innovation.
Programme
09.00–10.00 Introduction and lecture with: Ulrika Stenkula, Gaia architects, Johan Jönsson, material expert Clay in the Nordic countries.
10.00–12.00 Workshop: Timberframe, Under the instruction of Johan Jönsson we will assemble and raise a ready made timberframe togheter (2h)
12.00–12.30 Lunch (veg)
12.30–13.30 Lecture: Per Kristian Hansson, Lerkultur, Marwa Dabaieh, architect/professor and Johan Jönsson, Lera I Norden
13.30–15.30 Workshop: Plaster and clay Per Kristian Hansson and Marwa Dabaieh (2h)
15.30–16.00 Fika and closing.
